The scholarship is a collaboration between the University of Sheffield, the Sheffield Institute for International Development, and the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust. This scholarship opportunity aims to support students from developing countries to pursue a master’s degree in several courses related to international development and environmental change.

Four scholarships are available for the 2023 academic year.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions:

Each scholarship recipient will receive a full tuition fee waiver and a maintenance stipend.

Eligibility Criteria for Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarships at the University of Sheffield

To be eligible for the Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarships at the University of Sheffield, you must:

  • Hold an offer for one of the eligible courses by May 5th, 2023
  • Be classified as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes
  • Be self-funded and not funded by any research council, government, private enterprise, charity or any similar organization
  • Be a national of, or permanently domiciled in, one of the eligible countries or territories
  • Be able to start your studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2023 on a full-time basis
  • Successfully meet all conditions attached to your offer before the deadline provided by the Admissions Service
  • Successfully receive a visa to study at the University in September 2023

Application Instructions:

If you meet the eligibility criteria and receive an offer for one of the eligible courses, you will be automatically considered for the scholarship.

The deadline for admissions is May 5th, 2023. If you are selected for the next stage, you will be contacted before Thursday, May 18th, 2023, to invite you to apply. Contacted applicants will need to submit an application before 1 pm on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023.
